Caring Relationships That Inspire Hope
May Newsletter
Everyone can be great because anyone can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't even have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve... You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Hello All!
We have an amazing group of volunteers, and this month I want to recognize a truly special couple. Shower to the People’s, Frank and Louise, were recently honored for providing their 2,500th shower in Everett. They are wonderful examples of how a desire to help others, compassion, love, and an entrepreneurial spirit make a difference in our community. Thank you, Frank and Louise!
This month we have another exciting event planned for NIN. Stephen’s Ministry has invited all NIN volunteers to attend a special training they are having on May 7. Pastor Barry Keating of Maplewood Presbyterian will be helping the group examine personal prejudices and how those affect our relationships with others. This will be our training for the month of May, and we encourage all who are able to attend.
As always, your feedback is appreciated. Please help us grow and develop by sharing your ideas, your stories, and your observations. This is truly a team effort, and as such, we value each one of you and what you bring to this group.
Blessings,
Julia Eckberg, Neighbors in Need Coordinator

More Information
Neighbors in Need is a ministry that seeks to understand and address the issues of poverty in our neighborhood. We are intentional about walking with our neighbors in need through caring relationships that inspire hope. There are four programs that have been developed to address these issues:
* Saturday Morning Assistance
* Emergency Cold Weather Shelter
* Packs for Kids
* Neighborhood Youth Alliance
These four programs are specific responses to perceived needs in the community based on conversations that we have had with low-income or homeless neighbors as well as community specialists.
We invite your participation in learning more about the vision of our programs as well as leadership and volunteer opportunities. Select from the menu at the right to find out more about opportunities to serve our neighbors. We also welcome any questions you may have about this important ministry.
